Obituary of George LeRoy Johnson

George L. Johnson, 62, of Muscatine, passed away on Friday, July 5, 2019 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.  A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date with inurnment at Muscatine Memorial Park Cemetery.  Memorials may be directed to the Make-A-Wish Foundation in George’s name. Sympathy notes may be left for the family at   The Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Home for funeral and Cremation Services is caring for the arrangements and George’s family.

George LeRoy Johnson was born on July 18, 1956 in Iowa City, Iowa the son of Carroll Edward and Mary Louise (Crown) Johnson.  George was raised by foster parents, Carolyn and John Yeater from the age of 4 into adulthood.  He graduated from Muscatine High School and had worked for Mercy Hospital for 32 years.  He was a bit of a perfectionist which always showed through his love of models and car sketches.  He was quite the talented artist.  George loved all cars and hotrods and fishing.  George was also a true fan of the Chicago Cubs and the Iowa Hawkeyes always making sure he was home in time to see every game. 

George will be missed by his siblings, Mary Lou (Charlie) Kimball of Fairbank, Anna Bernetta (Bob) White of Burlington and John James (Terry) Johnson of Oklahoma City; foster parents, John and Carolyn Yeater of Muscatine; and foster brother, John Jr. (Angie) Yeater of Mackinaw, Illinois.

George was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Dannie Lee, Sister, Linda Johnson; and foster sister, Kaye Conaway.
