Obituary of Manuel R Quinones
Manuel R. Quinones, 82, of Columbus City, passed away on Wednesday, May 22, 2019 at Colonial Manor. Services will be 1:00 p.m. on Friday, May 31, 2019, at the Stacy-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services. Burial will be in Columbus City Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, May 31, 2019 from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. A memorial has been established in Manuel’s name. Manuel Reyes Quinones was born on May 4, 1937 in Durango, Mexico, the son of Saturnino Quinones and Florentina Reyes. In 1980, Manuel was united in marriage to Carol Williams in Monroe City, MO. In his younger days Manuel worked as a cowboy/cattle herder in Mexico and later retired from Tyson Foods in Columbus Junction, Iowa. He enjoyed gardening, rodeos, boxing, watching westerns and his favorite actors, Catinflas and John Wayne. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren.
Manuel will be deeply missed by his children, Manuel Holliday of Monroe City, MO, Jesse Quinones of Washington, IA, Edward Quinones of Columbus City, Iowa, Ashley Quinones of Morbley, MO and Lassitee Quinones of Columbia, MO; step-children, Chad (Julie) Holliday of Columbia, MO, Curtis Holliday of Moberly, MO, Caroleen Holliday of Phoenix, AZ, Justin Holliday of Monroe, MO and Tameka (Dee) Lester of Morbley, MO; 13 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; sisters, Aurora Favela (Eduviges Favela) of Sunland Park, New Mexico and Lydia Quinones (Rogelio Ascencio) of Mexico City and brother, Juan Jose Quinones (Eustolia Quinones) of Meza, New Mexico.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Jesus Quinones and Angel Quinones and sisters, Mercedes Quinones, Beatriz Quinones and Melesia Quinones.
