Obituary of Steven Kennedy

Steven D. Kennedy, 67, of Muscatine, passed away on Tuesday, September 26, 2017, at Lutheran Living.  Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, October 2, 2017, at the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services.  Burial will be in the Buffalo Prairie Cemetery.  Following the committal services at the cemetery, a time of food and fellowship will be held at the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Community Room.  Visitation will be Monday, October 2, 2017, from 9:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home.  Memorials may be directed to the Almoner Fund at Community Services in memory of Steven.  Online condolences may be left for the family at www.lewisfuneralhomes.com.

 

Steven DeWayne Kennedy was born on July 11, 1950, in Muscatine the son of Vernon J. and Lucille I. (Morgan) Kennedy.  Steven was a graduate of Westmer High School in Joy, Illinois.  He was united in marriage to Penny L. Kaufman in Kahoka, Missouri and later divorced.  Steven worked at Heinz and later at the Muscatine County Home.  He enjoyed bicycling, walking and the outdoors.

 

Steven will be deeply missed by his mother, Lucille Kennedy of Illinois City; son, Shawn (Karen) Kennedy of Garretson, South Dakota; two grandchildren, Madison and Tyler; and siblings, Craig (Julie) Kennedy of Fruitland, Cathy (Gary) Hart of Fruitland and Karen (Mike) Kindred of Illinois City.

 

Steven was preceded in death by his father.
