Obituary of Robert Thompson
Robert J. Thompson, 70, of Muscatine, passed away on Thursday, May 18, 2017, at the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics. Visitation for Robert will be held on Sunday, May 21, 2017 from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services. Robert J. Thompson was born on June 29, 1946, in Iowa City, Iowa, the son of George Richard and Marie Catherine (Potter) Thompson. Robert was a graduate of West Liberty High School. On August 25, 1987, he was united in marriage to Jane Ann Sellers in Muscatine. Robert was a farmer all of his life. He was a member of the American Legion, Moose, Wednesday Night Gang and the Corvette Club. He served in the United States Army Reserves. Robert enjoyed boating, cars, dining out, wintering in Florida and driving his bright new red golf cart. His greatest love was spending time with his family and grandchildren.
Robert will be deeply missed by his wife, Jane of Muscatine; his children, Joe (Heidi) Thompson of Kansas City, MO, Jon (Sara) Thompson of Coralville, Todd (Glenda) Forbes of Noblesville, IN and Heidi (Ryan) Hartsock of Columbus Junction; nine grandchildren, Stone, Ivy, Eve, Nathaniel, Benjamin, Erik, Kristin, Kurtis and Jacob; three great-grandchildren, Paityn, Scarlett and Hunter; brother Jim R. (Linda) Thompson of Muscatine; niece, Angie (Steve) Rauch of Kalona and nephew, Todd (Sherri) Thompson of Kalona.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents and one grandson, Lukas Jon Thompson.
