Raymond L. Hetzler, 89, of Muscatine passed away on Friday, March 30, 2018, at Lutheran Living. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Thursday, April 5, 2018, at the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services in Muscatine. Burial will be in the Muscatine Memorial Park Cemetery with Military rites by the combined unites of the VFW Post #1565 and American Legion Post #27. Following the interment, a time of food and fellowship will be held at the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Community Room. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 4, 2018, from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established at the funeral home. Raymond Leroy Hetzler was born on October 21, 1928 in Muscatine, Iowa, the son of Arthur Keith and Maria Louise (Kemper) Hetzler. Ray proudly served his county in the United States Army with 18 months stationed in Germany. On March 13, 1955, Ray was united in marriage to Ella Mae Fisher. Ray spent 40 years tending the farm he was born and raised on. He was a member of the Sweetland United Methodist Church and enjoyed farming, league bowling, restoring toy tractors, playing cards with friends and most of all spending time with his family and friends.
Ray will be deeply missed by his wife, Ella Mae of Muscatine; daughter, Vicki Daufeldt of Muscatine; sons, Brian (Carrie) Hetzler of Muscatine and Darrell (Doreen) Hetzler of Sun Prairie, Wisconsin; ten grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren; and sister-in-law Dorothy Hetzler of Muscatine.
Ray was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, Norma Richman, Gerald Hetzler, Anna Marie Freyermuth and Audrey Riexinger and grandson, Cody Hetzler.
