Norma J. Rogers, 83, of Muscatine, passed away on Saturday, August 5, 2017, at Premier Estates. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 9, 2017, at the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation for Norma will be held on Tuesday, August 8, 2017, from 5:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home. A memorial fund has been established at the funeral home in Norma’s name. Norma J. VanEst was born on April 18, 1934, in Muscatine, Iowa, the daughter of Harry J. and Myrtle I. (Coulter) VanEst. On May 20, 1955, Norma was united in marriage to David B. Rogers in Muscatine. As a young girl, Norma delivered telegrams all over Muscatine on her bicycle, she being the first delivery girl in Muscatine. She then worked as a telephone operator, at B. Dalton bookstore, 7-Eleven and was a police dispatcher. Norma enjoyed reading, coloring, genealogy, playing the piano and singing.
Norma will be deeply missed by her daughters, Denise Darting and Lynnette (Brian) Burns, both of Muscatine; granddaughters, Valerie and Stephanie Burns and brother, Michael (Betty) VanEst of Monroe, Iowa.
Norma was preceded in death by her parents; husband, David in 1996; son-in-law, Rocky Darting and brothers, Harry VanEst Jr. in infancy, James VanEst, Richard VanEst, Tom VanEst and Gary VanEst.
